This year British Open’s winner will receive $1,29 million, so it is obvious the battle for winning the world’s best golf championship is intense.
42 year-old Andrew Colart made the news while it scorched round the Old Course in 66 yesterday and joined the players situated on 6 under par. After not long time ago he missed 16 cuts in a row, this accomplishment seems to delight him, and the crowds. His games while being a BBC reporter at Open were so bad before that he wanted to quit playing golf, however it seems that his decision was a good one.
On the other hand, Calcavecchia tries to finish what Greg Norman and Tom Watson, two senior golfers, started. Ricky Barnes shot 32 on the front 9 with a eagle at the 5th, however he only reached 71.
An amazing 66 in 1st round was pulled by 1995 Open winner – John Daly – a player that walked on the golf field with pink shirt, blue sweater, turquoise cap and lavender paisley pants, a delight for colours lovers.
Tiger Woods still tries to recover from its lately scandals he was involved in and opened with a 67. Phil Mickelson tried to play better after he made only one birdie in his opening round of 73 and played the first 12 holes at under two, getting his score into the red.
Last, but not least, South Africa’s player Louis Oosthuizen managed a 3-stroke lead in the second round today shooting a 5-under 67 for a 12-under 132 at the midway point of this championship. Rory McIlroy, Northern Ireland’s player went below Louis after hitting a 63 on Thursday. Louis seemed to have a lot of fun while he did 3 birdies in a row.
