Rangefinders – a popular device amongst golfers

A laser rangefinder is a gadget which has become very popular amongst amateur golfers from all over the world. This is a device that is used for finding the distance to a certain object/point. Although they were used more in the army or geology, lately they have become a very helpful device for golfers.

Golfers use rangefinders for different purposes, like finding out distances to sand traps or even how far the pin is, and the results are quite accurate due to the technology maturation. The gadget projects a laser to the object and calculates the time needed for the laser to return. With a rangefinder, amateur golfers have drastically improved their skills over the last 10 years.

And this is not even an expensive device, with prices as low as ~£180 for an entry-level rangefinder, there are not many people that cannot afford it. And when it comes to sports enthusiasts, nothing is too expensive to try out when it comes to skill improvement, right ?

Although the benefits of using a rangefinder are obvious, there are two teams among golfers that do not share the same thoughts on using a device like this : on first team, there are the ones that believe using this gadget will never allow them to step from amateurs to great golfers while it is always better to learn how to calculate the distances without any tech-help. On the other hand, there are the golfers that enjoy using a rangefinder and lately find it a device that cannot miss from the field when playing golf.
