Opponents to Donald Trump’s golf resort plans to meet

Date October 11, 2007

Opponents to Donald Trump’s plans for a golf resort in Aberdeenshire are meeting to discuss the tycoon’s latest visit to Scotland.

Yesterday Mr Trump toured the Menie estate the site of the proposed development and held a press conference.

He says his one billion pound golf resort will actually improve the environment.

Members of Sustainable Aberdeenshire, a group of local residents against the plans, are meeting tonight.

One of the local residents, Michael Foote, said: “His plans are basically to destroy this beautiful landscape which is protected by all the planning legislation, environmental protections, and he’s asking us to put that all to one side so that he can sell very expensive properties on the strength of a golf course.”
