Nike reveals a disturbing new advert featuring Tiger Wood’s deceased father

Date April 8, 2010

Yesterday on ESPN and Golf Channel Nike revealed a new Tiger Woods commercial. The advert lasts 33 seconds and was shot in black and white, but here comes the creepy part: a detached Tiger Woods stares at the camera while his deceased father’s voice is being used as a voice-over.

For all the duration of this advert, the recorded voice of his father, Earl Woody, who died in 2006, speaks about taking responsibility:

“Tiger, I am more prone to be inquisitive, to promote discussion,” his father says.
“I want to find out what your thinking was; I want to find out what your feelings are.
“Did you learn anything?”

This ad is the first one for Woods since the scandal about his infidelities erupted in November and was aired just one day before the Masters starts.

During Tiger Wood’s latest scandal, the famous sports clothing company, Nike Inc., was one of the few sponsor that supported him all throughout that period. However, as the scandal widely spread, Woods has lost sponsors like Accenture LLP and AT&T, while Gillette stopped using him in its commercials.

Nike Inc. has not made any comment regarding this newly broadcast commercial.
