Kane to forego Women’s World Cup of Golf

Citing an off-season dedicated to recovering from the past season and preparing for the 2007 LPGA season, Lorie Kane announced that she will be unable to participate in the 2007 Women’s World Cup of Golf being played January 19-21 in South Africa.

”Representing Canada will always be a top priority for me, but I developed a good training regimen and many good habits last off-season and I want to continue to dedicate myself to that even more this off-season,” said Kane. ”I feel great physically and good about my game right now. As any player gets older, the more important it is to get proper rest and coaching during their down time.

”I debated this decision for a long time, but ultimately felt that I have to fully dedicate my off-season to doing what it takes to be at my best for the coming season, especially considering that the competition on the LPGA Tour has never been stronger and will only continue to get better each year.”

Kane represented Canada in the first two years of the Women’s World Cup of Golf, partnering with Dawn Coe-Jones in the inaugural event in 2005 and A.J. Eathorne last year.

Kane currently ranks 42nd on the LPGA money list.
